Good governance practices that create value for society
Aware of the importance that transparency and rendering accounts has for business reputation and prosperity, Grupo CCR has been adopting good governance practices that ensure the creation of value for all of society ever since its founding in 1998.
The company adopts principles of transparency and equity, being considered a reference in the market. Among the management committees that are part of Grupo CCR’s Board of Directors, the Strategy and Sustainability Committee has the responsibility of ensuring the inclusion of socioenvironmental aspects in the company’s risk management and growth strategy.

The main objectives and activities of the Strategy and Sustainability Committee are:
Provide subsidies to the BoD, consubstantiated in opinion, to define GRUPO CCR’s Strategic Objective, as well as establish guidelines and principles regarding the sustainable development of CCR and its subsidiaries, working with CCR’s CEO.
Analyze and issue an opinion about the General Objectives and Guidelines suggested by CCR’s CEO:
Analyze and issue opinion about GRUPO CCR’s General Business Plan, to be approved by the BoD:
Monitor and anticipate trends pertaining to global sustainability themes, identifying key issues that pose risks or that can have a relevant impact on businesses, relations with stakeholders, CCR’s image and on short, medium and long-term results;
Formulate recommendations for the BoD regarding policies and strategies that govern the management of the main environmental and social risks, supporting the Audit Committee in effectively supervising and mitigating these risks;
Monitor the implementation of policies, strategies and actions that relate to the business sustainability of CCR and its subsidiaries;
Periodically assess the performance of CCR and its subsidiaries regarding sustainability issues, seeking to position GRUPO CCR and CCR itself as a benchmark in market indicators and indices, environmental actions, social actions and relations with stakeholders, protecting CCR’s image and value;
Establish GRUPO CCR’s Climate Change Guidelines, adapting it to a low carbon economy, committed to the global effort of stabilizing greenhouse gas concentration in the atmosphere and acknowledging the importance of practices that align with environmental balance, within its area of influence.
Evaluate products, technologies and processes considered cutting edge in terms of sustainability, proposing actions that comply or reduce CCR’s direct or indirect exposure to risk through its subsidiaries, whenever the case;
Advise and recommend to the BoD the main actions targeted at the social and economic development of local communities, contributing to their full development;
Periodically monitor the main actions developed by companies in the sector and in related sectors, with the objective of recognizing and monitoring best market practices, seeking to parameterize the actions being developed, proposed by and for CCR.
Materiality process: a new study identified and prioritized material themes, allowing for a specific approach for each transport mode operated by the company. In 2016, Grupo CCR gave continuity to the cycle of consultations and engagement actions with its internal stakeholders (employees and top management) and external stakeholders (suppliers, city halls, users, regulatory body, government, institutional partners, press and community). The objective was to revisit materiality, combining the company’s internal vision with the perspective of impacted stakeholders regarding which aspects should be prioritized in management. The new materiality study allowed identifying and prioritizing themes with a specific approach for each transport mode operated by Grupo CCR, with the potential of influencing not only communication with its stakeholders, but also improve management of each theme, in each transport mode.
The materiality process was performed by an external consultancy, which conducted:
An analysis of sectorial studies, considering the Sustainability Topics for Sectors (GRI), RobeccoSAM 2016 (DJSI), WBCSD Sustainable Mobility Project 2.0 and SASB Sustainable Accounting Standards (Transportation Sector);
An analysis of internal documents, considering the General Business Plan, Reference Form and the main Corporate Policies for Social Responsibility, Environment and Climate Change.
A group dynamics with managers from the three transport modes and the company’s services area to analyze impacts and themes, and map stakeholders;
Four online consultations involving Grupo CCR and Business Units – highways, urban mobility (subway and ferries) and airports;
Interviews with Group executives, including the CEO;
Interviews with specialists.
The identification of corporate (Grupo CCR) and transport mode (highways, urban mobility and airports) themes occurred through an understanding of Grupo CCR’s business areas, its own internal strategy, considering key global concerns, represented in the previous materiality and in its Sustainable Development Objectives (SDOs).
The themes were prioritized according to the vision of stakeholders, the company’s internal strategy and the macro-impacts of CCR’s activities in relation to SDOs.
